Cat Health
One of the main aspects of loving your cat is keeping her healthy. Just like humans, cats can develop health problems if they aren’t cared for properly. Preventative care is the best way to keep your cat healthy and is much cheaper for the owner in the long run. Rather than waiting until your cat is ill to provide them with care, taking preventative measures on a daily basis will help to keep them disease free.
Two of the most important things you can do to maintain your cat’s health is to take them in to their vet for annual check-ups as well as get them vaccinated as often as recommended. The annual check-ups will allow for the vet to keep up and become familiar with your cat’s health and provide you with advice to better care for your cat. They may also be able to catch an early symptom of a disease that otherwise may have gone unnoticed for a long period of time and developed into a serious health problem.
Whether you have an indoor or outdoor cat, you should absolutely have them vaccinated as often as your vet recommends it, which is typically once a year. These vaccinations will help your cat remain healthy in the event they come in contact with another cat infected by certain diseases, such as rabies.
Probably the most important aspect in keeping your cat healthy is to examine them on a regular basis to check for any changes that may have occurred. Check your cat’s eyes, ears, nose, mouth, skin, and all other areas of the body and familiarize yourself with the way each looks. This way if you notice a change you can immediately seek medical attention. It is also important to pay attention to your cat’s daily habits and activities. Being creatures of habit, even a slight change could mean something is wrong.
If you suspect something is wrong with your cat, it is very important to get them in to see a vet immediately. There is no way for us to tell the extent to which our cat may be ill until they are seen by their vet. This will help prevent a minor problem from turning into a serious health issue that could potentially be fatal to your cat and very expensive for you.
Caring for your cat and keeping them healthy is just another way of showing them how much you love and appreciate them and by doing this, they will only love and appreciate you more!
